Blue Prism Collaborates with Red Hat to Drive Broader Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Adoption

Lays Foundation for the Next Generation of Intelligent Automated Capabilities with Enterprise Users

Blue Prism (AIM: PRSM), a global pioneer and market leader in Robotic Process Automation (RPA), today announced a collaboration with Red Hat designed to create next-generation intelligent automation capabilities and solutions.

Through the collaboration, Red Hat Process Automation Manager, a platform for developing containerised microservices and applications that automate business decisions and processes, will be      integrated with Blue Prism’s connected-RPA suite, enabling enterprise customers to create a more comprehensive automation strategy that can increase process efficiencies and improve ROI.      Together, the technologies can enable users to quickly build and deploy executable, automated processes, eliminating human tasks where able, to create intelligent process flows that are more efficient and more easily scalable.

The solution is now available on Blue Prism’s Digital Exchange, the company’s online portal for accessing new and emerging technologies. The integration adds Collaboration and Planning & Sequencing to the digital workforce – part of Blue Prism’s Six Skills for Intelligent Automation. Whether processing claims and filling orders, reducing inventory or onboarding customers, businesses can enact seamless communication between people, process and technology, optimising processes with an intelligent digital workforce that works securely and accurately alongside people.

The Red Hat collaboration follows the recent announcement of Blue Prism’s expanded technical partnership with IBM, which sees the integration of three core capabilities of IBM Cloud Pak for Automation, which includes Workflow, Capture and Decisions, with Blue Prism’s Digital Workforce.

“We are excited to work with Blue Prism and believe that together we can help organisations improve operational agility and take advantage of new opportunities that quickly add to the bottom-line,” says Mike Piech, Vice President and General Manager, Middleware at Red Hat. “Through this collaboration, customers can more easily integrate Red Hat Process Automation Manager and Blue Prism’s connected-RPA offering, enabling them to automate more of their operations, save money and reduce errors.”

Tools for Smarter Business Automation

The benefits of RPA to businesses are manifold, but a consistent automation approach that combines both Business Process Management (BPM) and RPA can be a challenge to newer adopters of the technology. The collaborative service between Red Hat and Blue Prism will enable businesses to streamline their automation initiatives and improve related processes end-to-end.

Red Hat Process Automation Manager makes it easier to design, deploy, manage and track automated business processes. Organisations can not only author executable processes, but also interact with running instances, while monitoring real-time data to improve efficiency. Businesses can define out-of-the-box tasks, including those that allow complex processes to integrate with external services.

How the Integration Works

There are two ways to leverage Red Hat Process Automation Manager and Blue Prism:

Digital Workers can execute, and complete tasks designed for human workers. Red Hat Process Automation Manager can create a Dynamic Task, invoking a Blue Prism Digital Worker to execute a task designed for a human worker. A Digital Worker can use the same Web Application a human worker uses, with unique credentials to log in and complete the task.

Digital Workers can also execute and complete tasks automatically. This approach replaces the human task with an automated task. By adding intelligence to the Digital Worker, Blue Prism can do the work without reaching external systems. In this case, Red Hat Process Automation Manager provides the necessary process data to the Digital Worker.

In both scenarios, the output of the automated digital processing will be the result of the task, which is returned to the process flow in Red Hat Process Automation Manager so the overall process can proceed.
