MNF Group Appoints Lee Atkinson as Head of Products

Newly created senior role to accelerate innovative Australian product releases

MNF Group, Australia’s largest provider of hosted voice and data communications services, today announced the appointment of Lee Atkinson to the newly created senior role of Head of Products.

Atkinson joins MNF Group from UK telco giant BT, with a remit to further accelerate MNF Group’s roll-out of innovative products and services across its wholesale and retail portfolio and to ensure the company is well-positioned to develop the communications products of the future. He will report to Jon Cleaver, MNF Group’s Chief Commercial Officer, and be responsible for leading and expanding the Group’s Australian based product team.

“MNF Group has a proven track record of being a true innovator since it was founded 12 years ago. Innovation is front and centre of everything they do and so the opportunity to lead and expand their product team was too good an opportunity to miss,” said Lee Atkinson, Head of Products. “Advances in technology and the consequent shift in consumer behaviour means the communications sector is seeing a convergence of voice and data services.  There is tremendous opportunity to drive forward unified communications products and services within the Australian market and I’m looking forward to driving MNF Group’s strategic growth into this area in particular.”

Prior to joining MNF Group, Atkinson spent two years at BT where he was Director of Customer Operations with a strong focus on identifying high value consumer services, and responsible for the launch and growth of the unified communications products. He was previously Head of Services at Olive Communications UK, Head of Services at Wish Communications and held various management positions at Vodafone and Forensic Telecommunications Services. Atkinson began his telco career as an Engineer at Ericsson.

Jon Cleaver, CCO of MNF Group commented “Lee brings a wealth of high-level experience from his roles in some of the largest telcos in the world and I’m delighted we were able to convince him to relocate to Australia to lead our product strategy across our entire brand portfolio. He will be pivotal in ensuring that MNF Group continues to be at the forefront of Australian telco innovation and that we consistently identify and offer our expanding consumer base the most value-add and up to date telco products and services available in Australia today.”

The MNF Group has a long history of innovation and software development, including the launch of TollShield real-time toll fraud mitigation SaaS, earning the Anthill Smart 100 innovation award for it in 2015. Most recently, it was also the first telco in Australia to introduce the Internet plan designed for the Australian rental market and the first to offer a business phone plan to offer unlimited lines for a flat fee in a significant departure from the traditional ‘line-centred’ telephony model.
