Symbio Networks Launches Preselect API to Deliver Flexible Self Managed Service to Wholesale Customers


ACN Pacific adopts Symbio’s innovative API to deliver faster and automated operations

Symbio Networks, operator of Australia’s largest VoIP network, today announces the launch of its preselect API (Application Program Interface) designed to provide its wholesale customers with a more flexible, self-managed voice service.

Preselection is the process of redirecting call routing pathways so Service Providers can choose their traffic routes. To date this has been a manual and highly time-consuming service. By automating via an API, Symbio has taken preselection into the cloud age, maximising efficiency and reducing costs for its wholesale customers.

Jon Cleaver, CCO of Symbio parent, MNF Group, said: “API capabilities provide an efficient and easy deployment path for new providers to access Symbio’s smart network through their own user interfaces. These days both providers and end users expect the ability to control their services within their own portals – there should be no need for them to switch between multiple interfaces.”

International telecommunications provider ACN Pacific is one of the first companies to deploy the API. This further strengthens ACN’s suite of industry-leading voice services and products.

“We no longer have to wait for information to be sent off in batches. As soon as customers sign-up, the preselection request is dispatched in real-time,” said Belinda Davies, ACN Pacific’s Director of Carrier and Relationships.

Symbio uses ReST (Representational State Transfer) architecture, which is the foundation of most cloud-based APIs. This allows the application to be deployed into internal ordering systems easily, and be scaled to cater for a large customer base - such as ACN Pacific.
