Primus Australia Readies For Consumer and Small Business Fibre With Appointment of New General Manager

Primus Australia, a part of PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc.) NYSE:PTGI today announced it has appointed Lachlan Burns as General Manager of its Residential and Small Business Fibre Products. Burns will lead the growth of its fibre based products, including sales on the National Broadband Network (NBN) in Australia.   The company also announced its intention to shortly launch two new fibre products.

Primus Australia CEO Tom Mazerski commented: “Our recent signing of an NBN wholesale agreement, along with our advances with other fibre networks means we can now begin to accelerate the launch and roll-out of new fibre based products and services to customers in Australia.

“We have an aggressive plan to enter new fibre markets with two innovative fibre products- “True Fibre Voice™” and “No Worries Broadband™”. These products will be launched with new business processes and the goal of delivering a seamless transfer of service from copper to fibre; as well as real time ordering, activations and trouble shooting.

“Lachlan has the experience and vision to lead our fibre team to roll-out these new products and services,” said Mazerski.

Primus believes it is in a unique position in the market as a leading and truly customer focussed fibre network voice services carrier in Australia. It’s “True Fibre Voice™” service will use the voice port on the optical network terminal (ONT) going directly through fibre networks to provide a seamless end-to-end fibre customer experience.

Burns has worked with Primus for over five years.  His experience at Primus has given him the leadership skills he will need to aggressively drive the consumer and small business product team to rapidly grow its new fibre business.  Prior to joining Primus, Burns spent 13 years with Salmat / SalesForce,  one of Australia’s premier outsourcers,  both here and in South East Asia developing call centres and call centre strategies ,encompassing both  Inbound and Outbound centres, for a range of clients.
